and quite unexpectedly! He was to be born this coming Tuesday, but things took a turn this afternoon. Michelle went to her regularly scheduled OB appointment today thinking she would be able to nail down the plan for the baby's arrival Tuesday. However, she said the nurses couldn't find a pulse. The doctor came in and said they needed to put a monitor on her to track the baby's heartbeat. She called me, nervous and anxious, so I got to the doctor's office as quickly as I could.
I was at our apartment trying to finish cleaning it all before giving back the keys. Michelle's mom flew into LAX just yesterday, so she was out at the playground with the girls. I quickly told her what was happening and left them at the apartment while I went to the doctor's office.
When I arrived the doctor was talking with Michelle and he told me everything was OK. But...(there's always a but, right?) he said it would be best to get the baby out sooner than later. So, Michelle and I decided we would just do it tonight - in case something was wrong.
To make a long story shorter, Caleb was born via C-section healthy and he seems to be happy. Right after he was born the doctor showed me his umbilical cord and it was tied in a knot. Just like you would tie a rope in a knot! I was amazed and the doc said it was a good thing he came tonight.
Praise be to God for His provision and protection in all areas of life! Welcome to the world, Caleb, my son! May your heart and hands praise Jesus your entire life.
Congratulations! He's beautiful!
