Intriguing receipt...

I purchased this CD from a little company called CD Baby. The following is part of the receipt I received after I paid for it. I wonder why they chose to write all of this? What does this tell you about their intended audience? What does it tell you about the company? Personally, it does nothing for me as far as hooking me as a returning customer - but I am talking about it. What do you think??

"Your CD has been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow.

A team of 50 employees inspected your CD and polished it to make sure it was in the best possible condition before mailing.

Our packing specialist from Japan lit a candle and a hush fell over the crowd as he put your CD into the finest gold-lined box that money can buy.

We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of Portland waved "Bon Voyage!" to your package, on its way to you, in our private CD Baby jet on this day, Tuesday, March 18th.

I hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby. We sure did.

Your picture is on our wall as "Customer of the Year." We're all exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sigh...

Kevin, I also ordered Lee's cd from CDBaby. The receipt was hilarious.

It's a great idea!

It's just an example of NW humor. My inner nor-easter can read it as a put-down for picky customers, but I have a feeling it's just some whacky north westerner's idea of FUN marketing.

You wouldn't believe what Steve saw at the Amazon.com headquarters in Seattle when he was the controller down in Coffeyville.
